Amber from fossilized tree sap has been renowned for
its healing properties in Europe for thousands of years.
Why was amber used for so many years? Scientists discovered many of amber’s benefits traced back to
succinic acid as its active ingredient.
Applied on skin, succinic acid balances skin’s pH,
controls skin’s oil-water balance, soothes and
reduces blemishes, and prevents excess sebum
for smooth, healthy skin. Compared to salicylic acid,
succinic acid is gentle even on sensitive skin.
Despite these benefits, succinic acid extracted from
amber was costly and time consuming, limiting its use
